Our commitment
We are committed to making Rewind Rolodex accessible and to improving it over time. Accessibility is part of how we build and review pages, not a one-time task, and we treat reported barriers as bugs worth fixing.
Conformance goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. This is a goal we work toward, not a claim of formal certification, third-party audit, or perfect conformance. Some parts of the site may not yet fully meet that target.
Measures we currently use
- Semantic HTML with clear page landmarks and a single main heading per page.
- Keyboard navigation for menus, forms, dialogs, filters, and the image lightbox.
- Visible focus indicators on interactive controls.
- A “Skip to main content” link as the first item in the tab order.
- Labels and accessible names on form fields, buttons, and icon-only controls.
- Alternative text for meaningful images, with decorative artwork hidden from assistive technology.
- Responsive layouts that reflow down to narrow mobile viewports without horizontal scrolling.
- Colour-contrast review of brand colours and interface states.
- Automated accessibility checks with axe during development.
- Manual keyboard testing of the main directory, listing, form, and account flows.
- Representative testing in Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit based browsers.
Known and possible limitations
- The interactive video-store map uses a third-party map component and map tiles. Panning, zooming, and marker interaction may be harder to use with some assistive technologies.
- Listing text and images are submitted by directory members. Despite our guidelines and moderation, member-supplied wording or images may fall short of our accessibility target.
- Links out to member websites, social profiles, and community resources lead to sites we do not control, and their accessibility is outside our direct control.
Feedback and accommodations
If you hit a barrier, or need information from the directory in another format, please tell us through the Rewind Rolodex contact form. It helps if you include the page address, what you were trying to do, what went wrong, your browser and device, and the assistive technology you were using if that applies. We will reply and work with you on an alternative way to get what you need.
Compatibility and technical approach
Rewind Rolodex is built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and relies on standard browser and accessibility APIs. It is designed to work with current versions of major browsers and the assistive technologies that pair with them. Older browsers, or browsers with JavaScript disabled, may not present every feature as intended.
How we assess accessibility
This statement is based on our own self-evaluation, combining automated checks with manual keyboard and screen-reader testing across representative pages. It has not been reviewed or certified by an external organisation.
